Let’s Dive in – Public Pool Washroom Gets a Revamp
Sportoase “Zwem.com” is a leisure centre with facilities including a public pool a cafeteria and outdoor area for activities like tennis and athletics. Located in Oudenaarde Belgium the sports centre recently unveiled the results of its swimming pool area.
Speaking on the project LD Architecten, comments: “Our overall aim was to create a modern, warm and cosy interior for the swimming pool. When it came to the sanitary facilities we wanted the colours and tones to complement the black, white and wood-look of the pool area.”
Formica® laminate in White, Earth, Kashmir and Folkestone was specified for the doors, changing rooms and lockers. When asked about the choice of colours, LD Architecten explains: “We went with plain and earthy colours to complement the wood decors already in play. We liked the result, it suggested wood without actually having to use the real material which is not ideal in an environment where hygiene is key.”
Ensuring a project does not exceed its budget is a challenge architects and designers are often faced with.
Formica laminate is affordable, durable and easy to install. Simple to maintain, the cost benefits of the material extend beyond its installation, making the surface ideal for high traffic projects of this nature. LD Architecten concludes: “For pools our preference is to specify laminate panels as it has the right material properties to handle the chemicals used in swimming environments without jeopardising the budget demands of the client.”
