Formica Corporation Previews Innovative New Products at NeoCon 2024

Brand introduces new InDepth Surfacing™ product line and unveils new DecoMetal® designs at the country’s largest commercial interiors trade show

CHICAGO (June 10, 2024) — Formica Corporation is exclusively previewing first-to-market additions to its commercial product portfolio at NeoCon this year. Available for purchase in July, the company’s all-new InDepth Surfacing™ line and fresh additions to its DecoMetal® line will debut at the show in Formica’s booth (#7-4069).

“There’s no better place than NeoCon to give commercial design professionals a first look at the innovative new products coming from Formica,” said Meghan Howell, North American design and creative director at Formica Corporation. “We are pioneering new, advanced print technologies that have allowed us to do more with laminate than ever before. Our new InDepth Surfacing™ brings more naturalism to laminate surfaces and our additions to the designer-favorite DecoMetal® celebrate the art of decorating metal and new brass finishes.”

Introducing InDepth Surfacing™

A new premium product category, InDepth Surfacing™ by Formica Group incorporates a new precision inline print technology that results in a synchronized embossed matte texture with light-reflecting details. The result is a visually dynamic, high-performance textured surface suitable for vertical, horizontal, postformed and flat applications in high-end commercial environments such as hospitality, higher education and luxury office spaces. The following designs will soon be available:

Metallic Veined Marble

A dual-matte enhancement paired with sculpted metallic veins modernize this Italian marble originally quarried in Tuscany.

  • Silver Veined White Marble: a warmed silver vein is embossed in a field of white Italian marble
  • Gold Veined Taupe Marble: a dual-metallic gold vein warms a taupe Tuscan marble background

Woodgrain

A new real veneer visual with inline precision graining and pearlescent highlights allows these designs to mimic the light reflection of real wood fibers.

  • Natural Silk Oak: sanded lightly in a matte waxed finish for a modern oak look
  • Fumed Silk Oak: fumed and naturally darkened to bring out the oak grain pattern
  • Oxidized Silk Oak: highlights a wood-aging process to oxidize the oak to a smokey silver-gray
  • Bleached Luster Walnut: bleached to lighten and smooth out the heart and sapwood for a luxurious wood finish
  • Steamed Luster Walnut: steamed to enhance the ribbon-like technique that highlights the white sap and dark heartwood for a natural mid-toned walnut
  • Stained Luster Walnut: over-stained in a rich brown for a classic walnut color

DecoMetal® Metal Laminate Additions

This continually popular line is expanded with a new Metallic series and additions to the Rubbed series, giving designers even more options when creating luxe commercial spaces.

Metallic Series

New print technology brings the art of decorating metal to the forefront. This series is artistically aged with patinated cross-brushing, creating a distressed metallic effect ideal for modern to traditional environments.

  • Metallic Gray: a sleek tone-on-tone silver
  • Metallic Gilt: a vermeil plating effect with silver and gold highlights
  • Metallic Black: a darkened carbonized steel

Rubbed Series

With an age-old finishing technique for a glamorous yet subdued effect, real brass foil is hand-rubbed and softly burnished in a linear fashion.

  • Wax Rubbed Brass: a lightened brass, smooth to the touch with a softened varnish
  • Oil Rubbed Brass: hand-rubbed brass for an antiqued aesthetic with a darker, low-luster finish

Other Happenings at theMART

In addition to new product previews, Formica Corporation is celebrating the winners of its annual FORM Student Design Competition at NeoCon.

On Monday, June 10, the top winners from Formica’s 2024 FORM Student Innovation Competition will take the NeoCon Talks Stage at 1:30 p.m. CT to discuss their top-placing designs. Each of these students created a furniture design inspired by this year’s contest theme of “newstalgia” and placed in the top five from nearly 200 eligible entries across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
