Quebec cross-country skier Cendrine Browne qualifies for the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games

An inspiring role model for young sportswomen

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, January 19, 2022 – Last Thursday, Nordiq Canada, Canada’s cross-country skiing federation, announced the names of the seven athletes who will make up the Canadian Olympic Cross-Country Ski Team, which will include Cendrine Browne. Composed of five athletes from Quebec, the team will soon fly to China after taking part in a final training camp in Western Canada.

To secure her place among the best, Cendrine put in a strong performance at the Canadian Trials held in Canmore, Alberta, from January 6 to 11. She met the second Olympic criterion by winning the sprint skate by an impressive 6.44 seconds, securing her place on the Olympic team on day one. She also finished third in the 10km classic on Saturday, January 8, and second in the 15km skate on Sunday, January 9.

“Formica Canada is extremely proud to have supported a young, dynamic and committed athlete like Cendrine for many years. Through her involvement in and dedication to her sport and the causes that are close to her heart – including the Feminaction initiative, which aims to promote the participation of young women in sport – Cendrine has become a true role model for young people, and particularly for young girls,” says Christelle Locat-Rainville, Marketing Director at Formica Canada. “We wish her much success at the upcoming Olympic Games.”

“I’m very proud of my performance and qualification for the Beijing Olympics,” says Cendrine Browne. “Representing Canada at these Games is a great honour for me, and between now and the Games, I will continue to prepare myself physically and mentally to achieve my personal best results in every race.”
