Five Palettes Inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year 2023

PANTONE Viva Magenta is the Pantone Color Institute’s Color of the Year. The organization emphasizes that this year’s choice is rooted in nature and signals strength, optimism and joy. These five palettes explore ways to capture the energy and spirit of this selection to bring vibrance to home and commercial design.

This palette has it all — sophistication, drama and shine. Clementine and Viva Magenta immediately draw the eye while the Polished Copper DecoMetal® Laminate adds sparkle. Copper Quartz Everform® Solid Surface brings in texture and a transition to the darker color laminates, Navy Grafix and Graphite. These ground the palette with the depth of their full-bodied shades while allowing Viva Magenta’s hint of coolness to emerge.

This is a palette that explores the opposing forces of the color wheel with shades that are alternately warm and cool, light and dark. The textured base of Layered Sand enables the brighter elements to pop. The Just Rose and Jadeite laminates and Wheat Matrix Everform® Solid Surface offer artful calibration. Night Forest and Viva Magenta support and enhance one another to inject a feeling of liveliness and visual vibration.

Here we have a beautifully weighted integration of rich colors reminiscent of a bowl of berries. These looks pull from familiar jewel tones to complement but soften the attention-getting Viva Magenta. New Burgundy offers a similar red tone with both warm and cool underpinnings that play up the cools of the three blue laminates and the Bottle Glass Quartz Everform® Solid Surface. Copper Patina DecoMetal® Laminate adds a warm, earthy vibe with gradients that move from light to dark.

Viva Magenta brings spark to this otherwise placid, neutral palette, which is an exploration of cozy beiges and browns. With a mixture of cool and warm tones, Neapolitan Stone 180fx® Laminate anchors this collection, and the richness of Planked Coffee Oak adds depth. The Earth, Otter and Blush laminates pair with Portofino Mineral Everform® Solid Surface to diversify and further ground the overall composition with soft tones.

With its muted, spa-like shades, this look is the opposite of the Counterbalance palette. Viva Magenta is an eye-grabbing color amongst pastels that brings passion to a romantic collection that evokes cherry blossoms in spring. All other components are light and airy, taking their inspiration from nature. Even the Swede Rift Oak woodgrain and Brushed Brasstoned Aluminum DecoMetal® Laminate are light and muted.
