Eckenhoff Saunders Architects - ColorCore2®

2015

The office of Eckenhoff Saunders Architects cut their square footage in half when they relocated to an 8,900 square foot space on the 18th floor of Prudential Building in Chicago, IL. With a smaller footprint, efficiency in space planning was an essential component of the new office design.

The goal for ESA’s new office was to create ample community space to encourage collaboration and a functional workstation for effectiveness in organization.

Collaborative areas are centrally located leaving stunning perimeter views of Lake Michigan and Millennium Park to the open-plan workstations.

ESA offers staff a number of multipurpose areas including a large public square, private team huddle rooms, a conference room equipped with video capabilities, and a large material resource library.

ColorCore®2 Solid Color Laminate was used to enhance the collaborative areas in the office, in addition to the main reception desk. ColorCore®2 laminate colors go all the way through, and can be engraved, carved, routed and layered to create unique designs.

Jackie Wilcox, licensed architect at Eckenhoff Saunders Architects said “The ColorCore®2 product used on the main reception desk allowed ESA to create a custom pattern for the main entry. The playful LED backlit perforations added to the otherwise clean reception area created a focal point and interesting piece upon entry.”
