Formica group in the interior design of the new and exclusive SOFIA Hotel in Barcelona

After an integral process of reconceptualization of all its spaces, and an investment of 60 million euros, it is a spectacular and unique architectural work. It was redesigned by the architect Albert Blanch, whose interior design has been made by Jaime Beriestain and the team of Selenta Group.

Formica Group is present in the interior design of the hotel both in the hall that welcomes customers and in the exclusive VIP floors, with 2,300 square meters of laminates installed, combined with other materials such as ceramics, marble and natural wood.

In the hall, it is remarkable the prominence of Formica HPL and Formica Decometal^® in various designs (aluminium and silver) with impeccable finishes. These are applied to the ceiling, in original suspended polyhedral sculptures forming mirrors in columns on the walls, creating a unique space.

In the VIP floors, the interior design team has also opted for the Formica Group's AR+^® laminate in reference F5349, a grey colour in glossy finish that provides all the luxury and sophistication that this exclusive area of the hotel requires.

DecoMetal is an exclusive laminate of Formica Group that incorporates authentic metal on its surface.

Postformable, easy to install and easy to maintain, it is a unique material with the design of metal and the strength of a laminate. It is also an environmentally sustainable product which has the Greenguard and Chain of Custody certifications, as well as the Carbon Trust label.

Suitable for vertical applications, both in commercial environments and domestic spaces, DecoMetal always brings an unmistakable urban touch and sophistication to any interior design project.

As for the AR+ glossy finish of Formica Group, it represents a new standard of quality in gloss finishes. It is made with a resin impregnation system that gives it twice the rubbing, wear and abrasion resistance than a conventional glossy finish, so that the loss of brightness due to daily use is zero.
