The stylish new hotel, The Big Sleep Cheltenham, has transformed the interior of the original five-storey Ashley House building in Wellington Street, although much of the original interior remains. In this stunning conversion, Cosmo Fry, who heads up the Bedfactory Hotels Group, chose Formica® High Pressure Laminate (HPL) throughout the hotel, citing durability and clean lines among its attractions as a material to work with.

Formica HPL has been used to great effect throughout the hotel in a wide variety of applications including countertops, fascias and feature wall panelling in the open plan reception, breakfast and bar area, as well as across most of the surfaces in the hotel washrooms. Within the bedrooms the material has been used in the construction of furniture, from the desks to the built-in wardrobes and bar area, to the headrests, the surfaces in the bathrooms, and even as skirting and light-switch plates.

Architect, Evans Jones Partnership, together with Cosmo Fry and his business partner Lulu Anderson, have remodelled the interior of this former Inland Revenue office building to create a striking combination of natural, light and striking features. The interior design and decoration also demonstrates a keen eye for detail.
