Atelier C3 Design Transforms an Urban Living Room with Elegant Homapal® Metal Laminates

The firm approached the space holistically, reshaping it into an environment that feels balanced, light-filled, and clearly organized. 

One of the project’s primary goals was to improve organization and functionality. The clear focal point of the renovation is the multifunctional wall, which incorporates a water vapour fireplace framed in genuine marble tile, giving the space a strong architectural presence. Custom cherry cabinetry, finished in a warm stain, provides generous storage while preserving a clean, streamlined look. The heat pump is integrated discreetly, storage solutions are designed around everyday use, and soft, diffused ceiling lighting helps establish a calm, welcoming atmosphere—one that naturally invites relaxation.

The decision to incorporate Homapal® Brushed Aluminum (M2022) metal laminate came naturally. The material was used in the open niche and on the top surface of the audiovisual cabinet—areas that are lightly used in everyday life and therefore particularly well suited to metal laminates. The Homapal® surface adds a refined luminosity to the room, subtly elevating the space while emphasizing the architectural lines of the custom millwork. The fact that Homapal® Metal Laminates are distributed by Formica Canada also played an important role in the designers’ choice. As a local company that employs people in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and works with local suppliers, Formica Canada aligned with Atelier C3 Design’s desire to specify materials that are not only visually compelling, but also support a more responsible, locally grounded approach to production.

Through the thoughtful use of metal laminate, the living room now strikes a refined balance between style and functionality.
