Smart storage, durable surfaces and elevated style ideas for a more functional laundry space

A classic square edge? Something more rounded? You have options!
In the past, laminate countertops were offered in one, traditional way when it came to edges. Now, you have a range of choices to consider for your project, with each adding a different upscale look.
Each of these options can enhance your Formica® Laminate countertops with an edge profile that completes your design vision:
1. Classic Square Edge
2. Postforming
3. Edgebanding
4. IdealEdge®

Traditional laminate countertops have square, flat edges that show a brown line between the top sheet and the edge. This is due to the exposed brown kraft paper layer.

A newer alternative is ColorCore®2, a solid-core laminate that has colour throughout to eliminate the brown line between the top sheet and the edge. With these 90-degree flat edges, you’ll have a precise, clean look.
Postformed Countertops
These are the drop-in-place laminate countertops available at most home improvement centers. Your postformed countertop is manufactured as a single piece with no seams or corners. These often include a backsplash and a variety of specialty edge options instead of a flat edge.
Edgebanding
Edgebanding uses special technology to create a seamless edge with an exceptionally tight fit. Through our partner Hartson-Kennedy, Formica Group offers custom-designed edgebanding matches for a curated collection of stone and woodgrain Formica® laminates. This sleek aesthetic features scratch resistance and impressive durability to stand up to wear and tear.
Hartson-Kennedy services are available only in the United States. To find the postformer in your area, visit our Where to Buy section.
IdealEdgeIdealEdge® is a perfectly finished edge available in four profiles: Double Radius, Waterfall, Bullnose and Ogee. IdealEdge® adheres to the side of your Formica® Laminate countertops to upgrade from flat edges without the brown lines. For DIYers, these edge profiles are easy to install.
