Use & Care Guidelines

Formica DecoMetal® metal laminate and solid metal items are designed for beauty and durability. Like any surfacing materials, however, they can be damaged by abuse and carelessness. When you use them where recommended and care for them properly, they will give you years of satisfaction.

PROTECTING THE SURFACE
Before selecting the surface material, consider the type of use it will receive. For example, Formica DecoMetal items are not recommended for use in heavy-duty applications such as countertops.

Never expose DecoMetal Collection items to heat exceeding 140° (60°).

ORDINARY CLEANING
Formica DecoMetal items should be cleaned with a soft, clean, damp, non-abrasive cotton cloth and a mild liquid detergent. Do not use solvents or waxes on DecoMetal Collection surfaces. Mild glass cleaners may be used to remove streaks. Use of abrasive cleaners, powders, scouring pads, steel wool, sandpaper, etc. will damage the finish.

CHEMICAL DAMAGE
Never use cleaners containing acid, alkali, or sodium hypochlorite. These cleaners will mar, etch, corrode, and permanently discolor Formica DecoMetal. Also, make sure that bottles, rags, and other materials contaminated with these cleaners never contact the laminate surface. Accidental spills or splatters from these harsh materials should be wiped off immediately, and the area cleaned thoroughly with a damp cloth.

Examples of cleaners containing acid, alkaline, or sodium hypochlorite include, but are not limited to:
drain cleaners rust removers coffeepot cleaners
metal cleaners tub and tile cleaners chlorine bleach
oven cleaners toilet bowl cleaners lime scale removers
ceramic cooktop cleaners some countertop cleaners
