Technical Information

Manufacture

Formica® high pressure laminates consist of layers of specially selected kraft and printed decorative papers impregnated with thermosetting resins. These are fused together under heat and high pressure in a controlled environment to create a single high density laminate sheet.

Composition

Durability

A transparent melamine overlay provides resistance to stains, heat, scratches and abrasion, whilst protecting the decorative surface.

Originality
Your design is printed on to melamine resin-impregnated paper which is then totally encapsulated by the overlay and the core.

Stability
The core layers of phenolic resin-impregnated kraft paper provide the strength, stability and flexibility of the finished laminate.

Quality
All Formica high pressure laminates are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9002 criteria and most have been granted approval from the British Standards Institute to display their kitemark.

For general guidance on the properties and fabrication of Formica laminates, see 'Properties' and 'Fabrication' in the 'Technical' part of the 'Information' section.
