Opportunity Knocks - Introducing the Formica Architectural Door Collection |
CONTACT: Bill Roush Formica Corporation (513) 786-3162 bill.roush@formica.com Opportunity Knocks - Introducing the Formica® Architectural Door Collection High-pressure laminate door surfaces offer unmatched performance and cost advantages CINCINNATI (June 30, 2004) -- It used to be that interior doors were either strong and unsightly or attractive and fragile, forcing builders to compromise looks for durability or vice-versa. Now, Formica® Brand Laminate is opening the threshold between aesthetics and practicality with its new Architectural Door Collection.
The new Architectural Door Collection from Formica Brand Laminate applies attractive, resilient high-pressure laminate (HPL) to door surfaces, with dazzling results for commercial interiors. State-of-the-art technologies in HPL and door production make laminate doors more beautiful, durable and realistic than ever before.
The architectural door business has been a growth area for Formica Corporation during the past several years, as customers in the hospitality and health care industries are discovering the benefits of laminate door surfacing.
"Builders and interior designers have been using Formica Brand Laminate as door surfacing for years," says Jola Spring, product manager for Formica Corporation. "High-pressure laminate is a perfect material for doors - it's economical, hard-wearing and, most of all, imaginative."
From exotic wood species and painted wood looks to vibrant solid and optical color patterns, customers can special order from the entire range of Formica Brand Laminate surfaces. With more than 250 color choices, Formica high-pressure laminate architectural doors provide the visual consistency and uniform design to make matching every door and project extension easy.
Formica high-pressure laminate doors are durable enough to stand up against impacts, scuffs and stains, and they won't crack or split like wood, requiring less long-term maintenance than wood veneer doors. Plus, these doors are easy to install because they're ready to hang - unlike natural veneer, Formica Brand Laminate does not require costly on-site finishing, staining, sealing or painting.
Customers like Rick Liddell, vice president of the architectural door division at VT Industries, a leading OEM manufacturer, are thrilled that Formica Corporation is now offering a stock door collection. "We've been using Formica high-pressure laminate to surface doors since the early 1960s," says Liddell. "In fact, our relationship with Formica Corporation is one of the big reasons why we're in the door business."
In addition to the durability and cost advantages, Liddell cites the collection's range of patterns and colors as a distinct marketing advantage. "The sheer variety of solid colors and woodgrain patterns make the Formica Architectural Door Collection incredibly appealing to our customers," adds Liddell. "Many architects and other specifiers are realizing that door design can make a big difference in a building's appearance."
The Formica Architectural Door Collection boasts 42 stock patterns, including warm woods, bright colors and natural earth tones. All other Formica Brand Laminate colors are available as a factory order. In addition, the Formica Architectural Door Collection offers several realistic finishes that enhance the visual appeal of Formica Brand Laminate's premium designs. One such surface, the Artisan Finish, imparts a hand-rubbed, oiled look to wood grain patterns, reminiscent of fine woodwork.
