Drama and Dimension: the 2007 Formica® DecoMetal Collection
CINCINNATI (May 30, 2007) – Formica Corporation combines metallic luster with a flair for drama and dimension with its 2007 Formica® DecoMetal metal laminate Collection.
Shaped by extensive concept and prototype research conducted with top architects and designers in the United States, Europe, Asia and the UK, the 2007 Collection captures two emerging global style trends – hyper-graphic and bourgeois. Hyper-graphic combines micro and macro graphics with unexpected scales of line to create architecturally-based structures such as organic weaves and laces, meandering lines and sculpted finishes. Bourgeois pairs classic nostalgia with nouveau riche glamour to create a feeling of romance.
“The new DecoMetal designs play with scale and texture to bring a bit of drama to commercial spaces,” said Renée Hytry, senior vice president of global design, Formica Corporation.
Veil Collection –Three New Patterns
In bourgeois fashion, coated metal is hand brushed in vertical and horizontal crisscross patterns to reveal copper, aluminum and graphite. The Veil Collection surveyed first for usability and design leadership across all continents.

Encode Collection – Three New Patterns
A micro-textural interpretation of the hyper-graphic trend, Encode is a random, stylized, raised dot pattern.

• 5394 Graphite Encode—Urban and chic, matte dark gray dot pattern
• 5395 Champagne Encode—Soft matte gold dot pattern
Twirl Collection – Two New Patterns
Inspired by the hyper-graphic trend, Twirl has a raised design that vertically twists and twines to create perceived shapes and shadows.
