Formica DecoMetal® Debuts Sleek, Sparkling Surfaces Sophisticated Metal Laminate and Solid Metal Designs Ideal for Commercial Interiors
CINCINNATI (June 1, 2004) ¨D Whether it's a streamlined European look, a bold industrial look or a weathered antique look, metal surfacing lends an air of refinement and forward-looking style to commercial interiors. Thanks to new trends in surfacing dimension and realism, metals are becoming more sophisticated, more detailed and more advanced due to innovative manufacturing techniques. Formica Corporation is expanding its DecoMetal® Metal Laminate and Solid Metal offerings to include ten new multifaceted designs.
Formica DecoMetal laminate is real metal foil laminated to a phenolic core, combining installation efficiency with the decorative surface qualities of real metal. For the bold presence of metal in residential and commercial interiors, retail spaces, exhibits and displays, without the hassle of metal fabrication, Formica DecoMetal allows designers to create original, imaginative surfaces.
"As the newest commercial design trends blend the comforts of the past with the optimism of the future, interior designers will continue to expand their creativity and embrace the new technologies and opportunities being introduced," says Rene¨¦ Hytry, vice president of design for Formica Corporation. Intensive design development and interviews with commercial specifiers and customers helped shape the 2004 Formica DecoMetal introduction. The new DecoMetal collection designs include copper, brass, colored aluminum and new iridescent inks that are combined with a variety of textures and a new abrading technique to offer unique new choices.
Metallic Naturals Inspired by grass, woven and galvanized aesthetics, these designs play with textural changes and warm-to-cool color shifts. Each surface is rich with high-tech character, reflecting timeless styles to suit any taste or environment.
Goldtone Crush - soft, two-toned circular brush strokes create color play of gold against aluminum Anthracite Stipple - warm gray with flashes of cool aluminum, reminiscent of galvanized metal Metallic Grass - real grass is used to create a raised detail, based in aluminum and highlighted in gold Steel Textile - loosely woven steel texture softened with warm gray Metalworks These unique patterns evoke the hand-worked metals of ancient craftsmen. Gothic yet contemporary, medieval yet modern, these designs are a timeless armor for interiors that reflect trends of studs, chain-mail, and plating seen in fashion today. Each design is made of real copper or brass, stamped, and softly brushed to a blackened patina. As all real metals, their sophisticated finish will darken and improve with age - embossed and antiqued, then softly brushed to reveal the true warmth of metal.
Brass Metalworks - golden brass, accented with antiqued dots Copper Metalworks - warm-burnished, copper accented with antiqued dots Copper Treadworks - warm-burnished copper, contrasted with an antiqued footplate pattern Techno-Metals Technology influences metal. New iridescent finishes play with light, flipping color before your eyes. These high-energy, chameleon-like designs bridge the aesthetic from natural to high-tech.
Iridescent Oxide - a softly brushed, copper-colored metal that flashes fiery red Iridescent Zinc - a hot, brushed metal that shifts from cool blue to cool purple Iridescent Oxide Slate - nature meets technology, creating shimmers of light on a slate texture Prices for installed Formica DecoMetal Metal Laminate and Solid Metal products range from $X.XX to $XX.XX per linear foot and ar e back ed by a limited one-year warranty.
