Bend it, Shape it, Anyway You Want It. New Postformable ColorCore® 2
CINCINNATI (February 13, 2008) – Formica Corporation has re-engineered ColorCore®, its patented color-through laminate line, to broaden potential design applications. ColorCore® 2 has added strength and flexibility for popular fabrication techniques, such as postforming, while updating the range of colors and finishes.
“When we invented ColorCore® in 1982, it revolutionized the laminate industry and inspired design greats such as Frank Gehry, Stanley Tigerman, and Massimo Vignelli,” said Renée Hytry, Senior Vice President of Global Design, Formica Corporation. “ColorCore® 2 creates new application possibilities for the next generation of designers.”
Unlike traditional laminates where the color is applied as a top layer, ColorCore®2 color goes beyond the surface throughout the product. ColorCore® 2 is ideal for designers looking to create volumetric, homogeneous designs in cabinetry, residential and commercial countertops, millwork, case goods, architectural doors, partitions, store fixtures, exhibits, signage and furniture.
In addition to being postformable, ColorCore® 2 is easy to route for signage and to display logos. It is Class A fire rated with specific adhesive/substrate assemblies.
ColorCore® 2 is available in eight neutrals including New White (new), Mission White, Antique White, Seringa (new), Surf, Folkstone, Fog and Black, as well as four global brights including Spectrum Yellow (new), Lime, Spectrum Blue and Spectrum Red. Select colors feature updated finishes which include fashion-forward MicroDot, sophisticated Polished and usable matte Velour.
