Launched in 1955, Formica Group’s fabrication support unit (FSU) is still expanding and recent investment in our workshop has created a state of the art environment for training, testing and troubleshooting.
With almost 20 years at Formica Group, Paul Sisterson, a committee member of the BLFA has helped countless customers around Europe with training, testing and project support, pushing the boundaries with Formica® laminate and ensuring you get the most out of our products. In 2011, Paul was joined by Technician David McKenzie and together, they have significantly grown this facility to a pivotal department in our organisation.
After recent investment and moving into a new area of the factory, FSU are now in a position to have fabricators of all skill sets and experience to attend our training courses. We have a one day beginners course and two day advanced course, but we can tailor all training courses to suit your business requirements. Our beginners course looks at various Formica products and grades such as HPL, ColorCore®, DecoMetal®, Ligna® and compact, focusing on:
- Handling and storage
- Fabrication and postforming
- Substrates and adhesives
- Maintenance and cleaning
For more advanced fabricators, our FSU team can include modules to training programmes covering:
- Preconditioning and storage
- Fire performance
- Avoiding bubbling and stress cracking
With the latest post-forming machines and a new CNC machine, our facilities replicate your workshop environments. We can troubleshoot any issue you may face when fabricating Formica® laminate. By methodically working through each process we can replicate the issue and give advice on how to achieve the best results. We also love a challenge! Please get in touch if you need
support on a complex project, we can visit your site or provide tailored training at North Shields.
